Garage Roofing Preston: Garage and Outbuilding Roofs
Signs your garage roof needs attention
- Drips or puddles inside the garage after rain.
- Splits, cracks or blisters in a felt roof.
- Water ponding on a flat roof that doesn't drain.
- Sagging in the roof deck.
- Slipped or missing tiles on a pitched garage roof.
- Damp on the wall where an attached garage meets the house.
Flat garage roofs
Most garages have flat roofs. We repair and replace them in three main systems:
| System | What it is |
|---|---|
| Felt | Layers of bituminous felt bonded to the deck. A traditional choice. |
| EPDM rubber | A single sheet of rubber membrane, with few or no joints. |
| GRP fibreglass | A layered fibreglass finish, laid in place to form a jointless surface. |
We'll explain which suits your garage and budget when we quote. For more detail, see our flat roofing page.
Pitched garage roofs
Pitched garage roofs are repaired and re-roofed in tile or slate, matched to the house where it matters. See our roof tiling and slate roofing pages.
Repair or replace?
If the problem is in one place and the roof deck is sound, a repair may be enough. If the covering is failing all over, or the deck under it is rotten, a new roof is better value. We'll tell you honestly which we think you need.
Older garage roofs and asbestos
Some garages built before 2000 have roofs made of asbestos cement sheets. We work on asbestos cement garage roofs. Don't break, drill or scrub a roof you think may contain asbestos yourself. Tell us when you get in touch, and we'll explain what's involved before any work. Never stand on a garage roof. The Health and Safety Executive advises treating every roof as fragile until a competent person has confirmed it isn't.
Outbuildings, sheds and extensions
As well as garages, we work on the roofs of outbuildings and extensions. For a new roof on an extension, see our roof replacement and new roofs page.
